Cougars add experienced goalie

Last season, the Prince George Cougars had no stability in goal. Problems between the pipes contributed heavily to one of their worst seasons in the Western Hockey League.

On Monday, the Cats announced a trade with the Swift Current Broncos, one they hope will give them reliable goaltending every night.

The Cougars acquired 20-year-old Morgan Clark, in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2011 bantam draft. Clark, a 2008 draft choice of the Vancouver Canucks (seventh round, 191st overall), has played in 142 games over the course of four WHL regular seasons. In 2009-10, he posted a 24-14-1-2 record with the Broncos, with a 2.92 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.

"Obviously, with everything we went through last year, we wanted to bring a guy in that has some experience and I think we've done that," said Cougars general manager Dallas Thompson, who watched the team stagger to a last-overall record of 12-56-1-3 last season.
