The Prince George Cougars cleared up their goaltending picture on Tuesday.
The Cougars added 18-year-old stopper Chase Martin to their roster, three days after they placed 20-year-old goalie Morgan Clark on waivers. Martin joins 19-year-old James Priestner in the Prince George crease.
Martin, from Medicine Hat, Alta., spent last season with the Calgary Canucks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. With the junior A Canucks, he posted a 9-8-2 record and had a goals-against average of 3.33. His save percentage was .896.
Martin, a fifth-round bantam draft pick of the Spokane Chiefs in 2007, will practice with the Cats today.
Clark was a victim of overage numbers. As per league rules, the Cougars were allowed to keep three 20-year-olds on their roster and they opted for forwards James Dobrowolski and Taylor Stefishen and defenceman Sena Acolatse.
Clark, a 2008 draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks, was seen as a potential starter for the Cougars when they acquired him in August from the Swift Current Broncos. With the Broncos last season, he went 24-14-1-2, with a goals-against average of 2.92 and a save percentage of .907.
The Cougars (3-4-1-0) host the Prince Albert Raiders (4-4-1-0) Friday at CN Centre. The puck will drop at 7 p.m.
