The Prince George Cougars' season is done, with no playoff extension, but that doesn't mean Cougar fans have to be completely shut out until training camp begins late this summer.
From the comfort of their own living rooms, they can watch some of the trials and tribulations of last year's training camp, as seen through eyes of rookies Brock Hirsche, Jesse Forsberg and Daniel Gibb, and a cast of other hopefuls who didn't make the grade.
Sportsnet's six-part series, The Rookies, is now into its third installment and that third episode will be shown for the last time Saturday at 2 p.m. Part 4 begins next week, shown Sunday at 10 a.m., Monday at 7 p.m. and Thursday at 3:30 p.m., all on Sportsnet (Cable 23).
The Sportsnet crew followed the Cougars into the dressing room, on the ice, and in the team bus to give fans a behind-the-scenes perspective of what major junior hockey players have to do to earn positions on their teams.
The Cougar players are wearing mics during pre-season games and practices and Rat Films, which produced the program, was allowed into meetings with coaches and scouts as they made decisions on who to keep and who to cut, leading up to the Cougars' first game of the season at CN Centre against Spokane.
The Rookies will continue to be broadcast nationally on Sportsnet until April 18.
