Brett Connolly has his name on a National Hockey League contract.
Connolly, a 19-year-old forward for his hometown Prince George Cougars, signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning on July 1. The Lightning selected Connolly in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2010 NHL entry draft.
The Tampa Tribune is reporting that if Connolly doesn't make the Lightning out of training camp, he will return to junior hockey with the Cougars.
With the Cats this past Western Hockey League season, Connolly had 46 goals and 73 points in 59 games. At the World Junior Hockey Championship, he helped Team Canada to a silver medal.
