The Duchess Park Condors took down the College Heights Cougars 81-42 in the first game of the senior girls basketball city semifinal Monday.
The Condors used their depth to play pressure defence throughout the game, as all 11 players dressed and contributed both defensively and offensively.
Lydia Myatovic had a break-out game, scoring nine points, while Carly Shaw-MacLaren and Emily Holmes each had 13 points.
Duchess Park advances to the city championship final next Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the
Northern Sport Centre.
The Condors will play the winner between the Cedars Christian Eagles and PGSS Polars tonight (6:15 at PGSS) in the other city semifinal.
The Polars are coming off a second-place finish at the Valleyview senior girls tournament in Kamloops.
PGSS lost 59-37 to Terrace's Caledonia in Saturday's final. Jenny Stern paced the Polars with 13 points, while Kelsey Videgain followed with seven points. Videgain was named a tourney all-star.
The Polars advanced to the final after a 66-47 win over Westsyde. Videgain had a team-high 16 points, while Olivia Letendre collected 12 points.
PGSS defeated Princeton 85-27, as Issy Bourque netted 34 points. The Polars opened the tournament with a 57-37 win over Pleasant Valley.
PGSS and College Heights are co-hosting the 12-team Northern Classic senior girls tournament this weekend.
Kelly Road takes on Nechako Valley Thursday at 4 p.m. at PGSS. The host Polars battle Quesnel's Correlieu at 5:45 p.m. At College Heights, the host Cougars battle the PG boys at 4 p.m., while the D.P. Todd Trojans take on Sexsmith at 5:45 p.m.
Cedars Christian plays the winner of the College Heights/PG boys game Friday at 5:45 p.m.
The championship final tips off Saturday at 5:45 p.m. at PGSS.
