The Duchess Park Condors are one of the top junior girls basketball teams in the province. To nobody's surprise, they soared to a district championship on the weekend.
In the district tournament, played at Kelly Road, the Condors won all of their games, including a 71-14 victory against the PGSS Polars in the final.
Duchess Park's Riley Brennan was chosen as the tournament's most valuable player and four of her teammates -- Emily Holmes, Madison Landry, Addison Fawcett and Nicola Erricson -- were picked as first all-stars. Jessica Sigfusson of the Polars rounded out the first all-star team.
Second-team all-stars were Marcie Schlick (Duchess Park), Courtney Serup (Cedars Christian School), Tori Mellott (Kelly Road), Robin Keahey (D.P. Todd) and Eden Gladesdahl (College Heights).
The tournament was a qualifier for zones, which will start Thursday at Duchess. This year's provincials are March 6-9 in Langley.
Currently, the Condors are ranked fourth in B.C.
In the junior B girls districts, which were also held on the weekend, Duchess Park downed Cedars 50-26 in the final. Ceara Barkowsky of the Condors got the nod as the most valuable player. First-team all-stars were Mariam Thalman (Duchess Park), Gabrielle Callier (Duchess Park), Jenna Van Delft (Cedars), Kyla Giesbrecht (Cedars) and Danae Koopmans (Cedars). Players who made the second team were Shelby Wilson-Berg (Duchess Park) Alexis Magrath (D.P. Todd), Sydney Pardue (PGSS), Jasneek Manhas (College Heights) and Olivia Bruce (Valemount).
