College Heights runners quick at Cottonwood

The College Heights Cougars paced to three first-place finishes at Cottonwood Island Park Saturday in the first high school cross country running race of the season in Zone 8, Cariboo-North East.

Isaac Goodrich won the senior boys (Grade 11-12) title, covering the 6.2-kilometre distance in 21 minutes eight seconds. Johannes Resch was 14th with a time of 29:10.

Sam Stewart won the 4.2 km junior boys (Grade 10) race, clocking 23:03, while Jenna Stevens claimed the bantam girls (Grade 8) title, posting a time of 18:17 across 4.2 km. Brooke Svendson followed in 11th place with a time of 25:30.

Kayleb Hatch was fourth in the bantam boys, crossing the line in 18:50, while Charles Stewart followed in ninth place at 25:20.

The Prince George secondary school Polars won the juvenile male and female (Grade 9) titles. Polar Nathan Beebe clocked 16:38 to capture the 4.2 km juvenile boys race, while his teammate Jacob Ostberg was eighth with a time of 24:18.

Robin Barwise posted a time of 17:43 to win the juvenile female race for PGSS. With a time of 22:05, Polar Emily Basha was fifth.

Owen MacDonald, a Grade 8 student from Duchess Park, won the bantam male race with a time of 17:07. His Condors teammate Adam Flett followed in fifth place at 18:59.

Sydney Casey from Duchess Park was third in the juvenile female division with a time of 19:13, while Ryland Horvat was fourth in senior boys class, clocking 23:45.
