The College Heights Cougars won their morning game Friday 2-1 over Mark Isfeld of Comox at the B.C. high school double-A girls soccer championship in Kamloops to improve to 1-2.

Unfortunately for the north central zone-champion Cougars they couldn't get the job done in their afternoon playoff match, a battle of third-place pool finishers, and lost 4-0 to Carihi of Campbell River.

That means the best College Heights can finish in the 16-team tournament is 11th place. For that to happen the Cougars will need to end up with a victory in their final game against Smithers today at 9 a.m. Smithers lost a playoff game 1-0 to Crofton House of Vancouver Friday afternoon.

St. Michaels University of Victoria will play Collingwood of West Vancouver this morning in the gold-medal match. St. Michaels advanced with a 2-1 semifinal win over

St. Thomas More, while Collingwood defeated South Kamloops 1-0 in the other semifinal Friday.
