It wasn't the finish the girls curling rink from College Heights secondary school wanted.
The College Heights Cougars dropped their final game 7-4 (in seven ends) to Seaquam of Delta on Saturday to wrap up their week at the B.C. high school curling championship in Kamloops with a 4-3 record.
Diamond Wilson skipped the Cougars to a 4-0 record before suffering three straight losses. After beating Mount Elizabeth of Kitimat 9-6 in Friday's early draw, Wilson fell 9-4 to Selkirk of Kimberley and 9-2 to Chilliwack.
Other members of the Cougars team are third Alyssa Connell, second Bailey Eberherr and lead Sadie Brummond. The College Heights team coach is Lisa Bailey.
In their final game, the Cougars gave up a steal of one in the second end which gave Seaquam a 2-0 advantage, but Wilson managed a deuce in three to tie the game at 2-2. But, consecutive deuces by Seaquam in the fourth and fifth ends sealed the Cougars' fate putting them down 6-2.
Wilson earned her deuce in six to pull with a pair at 6-4 but a single by Seaquam in the seventh end brought about the handshakes.
The Cougars finished the tournament in third place with an identical 4-3 record to Brooks of Powell River and Mount Elizabeth but would place ahead of both schools since the Prince George team won both head-to-head battles. In the opening draw the Cougars beat Brooks 7-3 (in seven ends).
Each game at the high school provincial championship is eight ends.
Seaquam finished with a perfect 7-0 record with Chilliwack coming in second at 5-2.
