You've read his words, and if you're a fan of the Prince George Spruce Kings, you'll now hear his voice.
Peter James, a news reporter with the Citizen, has been selected as the new play-by-play man for Kings home games.
James is passionate about sports. Before he arrived at The Citizen in early July, he was a copy editor at the Postmedia News national sports desk in Ottawa. He held that position for five years. James also wrote extensively about sports while at the Kenora Daily Miner and Red Deer Advocate. During that time, he covered two national midget hockey championships.
Ron Gallo will continue to call the action when the Kings are on the road.
The Spruce Kings, who skate in the B.C. Hockey League, will begin a four-game pre-season Aug. 28-29 with a pair of neutral-site contests in Chase against the Trail Smoke Eaters. They'll also take on the Grande Prairie Storm of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in an Aug. 31-Sept. 1 doubleheader. The first game will be in Grande Prairie and the capper will be in Prince George.
For the Kings, the 56-game regular season will start with a pair of games in Chilliwack. As part of the BCHL Showcase, they'll take on the Merritt Centennials on Sept. 8 and the Langley Rivermen on Sept. 9.
The Kings' home-opening weekend is Sept. 14-15 and will see the Trail Smoke Eaters and Penticton Vees in town.
