Once he had it, he kept it.

Saturday night at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Williams Lake, Olson won the OK Tire 100, the second race of the ARCA West OK Tire Sportsmen Series season. Olson, from Hixon, crossed the finish line ahead of Logan Jewell, Sheldon Mayert and Bob Williams, all from Prince George. Garnet Grimard, on his hometown track, grabbed fifth place and is the series points leader.

In a 16-car field, Mayert was the pace-setter for the first 16 laps. Jewell took over from laps 17 to 32 and then gave way to Olson.

In qualifying, Williams powered his way to a new track record. His time of 15.985 seconds broke the old mark of 16.199, set last May by Terrace's Ian Black.

The next ARCA West event will be held right here in Prince George. Race day is June 19 at PGARA Speedway Park.
