With their Western Hockey League playoff lives hanging by a thread, the Prince George Cougars will try to return to their winning ways tonight, 7:05 p.m., in Spokane against a Chiefs team battling for home-ice advantage with the Tri City Americans.
The Cougars (21-39-2-6) had a three-game win streak snapped Sunday when they fell 5-3 to the Vancouver Giants, the third game of the Cats six-game road trip.
Prince George trails the seventh-place Seattle Thunderbirds (23-37-7-2) by five points and the eighth-place Everett Silvertips (24-39-2-4) by four points. The Cougars have four games left in the regular season while the T-birds and Silveritps each have three.
After tonight's game, the Cougars play Thursday in Kelowna before wrapping up the season with a home-and-home series with the Kamloops Blazers, Friday in Kamloops and Saturday in Prince George.
The maximum points the Cougars can get this season, if they win their four remaining games, is 58 - Seattle needs to gain three points to clinch a playoff spot while the Silvertips need four.
