Two prized prospects of the Prince George Cougars have been shortlisted for possible Team B.C. roster spots in the Western Canada U-16 Challenge Cup.

When the list of 28 players was released by B.C. Hockey on Tuesday, Jansen Harkins and Brad Morrison were on it. Harkins was chosen second overall by the Cougars in the 2012 Western Hockey League bantam draft and Morrison was the club's seventh-overall selection. Both players are centremen and both recently signed standard WHL contracts with the Cats. Harkins is from North Vancouver, while Morrison has been playing at the Okanagan Hockey Academy in Penticton but is a Prince George product.

Once they start their regular seasons, players on the list will be evaluated by the Team B.C. coaching staff and final decisions will be made. The roster will be announced in October.

The Challenge Cup will be on the ice Nov. 1-4 in Calgary.
