The Prince George Cougars have signed forward Brendan Kochanski to a standard Western Hockey League player agreement.
Kochanski is a 1998-born player from Winnipeg who impressed the team brass at training camp, which he attended as a free-agent invitee. At six-foot-three and 204 pounds, he will bring good size and a physical brand of hockey to the lineup. Last season with the Winnipeg Thrashers midget team, he had eight goals, 10 assists and 136 penalty minutes in 37 games.
"He's been on our radar for many years now, and from the very first day of training camp, Brendan has worked hard and has done everything asked of him. That's why we're very pleased to announce this signing today," Cougars general manager Todd Harkins said in a Thursday media release. "He's a strong skater who goes to the net hard and he'll bring a lot of energy and physicality to our lineup."
