The Prince George Cougars have traded defenceman and captain Jesse Forsberg to the Seattle Thunderbirds for Colin Jacobs, a forward who is a Buffalo Sabres draft pick.
Both players are 1993-born. In the transaction, the Cougars also surrendered a fifth-round and seventh-round pick in the 2013 WHL bantam draft.
Jacobs, six-foot-two and 204 pounds, has spent his entire WHL career with the Thunderbirds and has recorded 44 goals and 89 points through 186 games. His best season came in 2010-2011, when he scored 22 goals and collected 44 points in 68 games. He was a fourth-round selection (107th overall) of the Sabres in the 2011 draft.
Jacobs is from Coppell, Texas.
Forsberg has played 170 WHL games, all with the Cougars. He has nine career goals, 36 assists and 379 penalty minutes during that span.
