The Prince George Cougars took an early lead, lost it, then clawed back for a 4-3 overtime win against the Vancouver Giants in Langley on Tuesday.
Jansen Harkins and Jesse Gabrielle teamed up for a goal and an assist each for the Cats in the first period. The Giants responded by scoring one of their own, and then two unanswered goals in the second period.
With less than a minute left in regulation time, Brendan Guhle scored off an assist by Brad Morrison to send the game to overtime.
Morrision kept up the momentum, scoring on the only shot on net in overtime with a helper from Brogan O'Brien.
The Cats outshot the Giants in every period, for a total of 46 shots on net. But Cougars goalie Ty Edmonds was still kept busy, stopping 19 out of 22 shots on goal by the Giants.
Tuesday's contest marked the end of a three-game road trip for the Cougars. They started with a 3-0 Saturday loss in Everett and fell 6-3 in Portland on Sunday.
The Cougars will now play their next seven games at CN Centre, starting Friday when the Victoria Royals provide the opposition. The Cats and Royals will also meet on Saturday. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
Hockey Canada unveiled on Tuesday the list of players invited to attend this year's world junior team selection camp and no members of the Cougars made the grade. The camp will be held Dec. 10-14 in Blainville, Que., while the tournament will run from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Montreal and Toronto.
