Cariboo Cougars split weekend games

The Cougars are back in action on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. at Elksentre Arena in the Hart, hosting the Thompson Blazers from Kamloops.

The Cariboo Cougars and the Greater Vancouver Canadians exchanged wins in Prince George over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Cougars beat the Canadians 4-2, with goals from Kade Lawlor, Jack Tidsbury, Noah Pears and an empty-netter from Jaxon Larmand. Cougars goalie Ryder Green stopped 33 of 35 shots to earn him first star in the game.

The Canadians struck back Sunday, defeating the Cougars 4-3, thanks to a goal in the last minute. The Cougars took a 2-0 first period lead, thanks to goals from Grady Gustafson and Rylan Bissett but the Canadians scored three unanswered goals in the second period to take the lead. Bissett tied the game in the middle of the third before Lucas Epp of the Canadians scored with just 44 seconds left.
