Cariboo Cougars down three in a row

The Cariboo Cougars lost for the third straight game on Sunday at the Mac's AAA Midget World Invitational in Calgary, but forward Cole Morris was a winner.

The Cougars fell 6-2 to the Okanagan Rockets to fall to 0-3-0 at the prestigious tournament, but Morris was the named the winner of the tournament's scholarship.

Morris is the third Cougar in five years to win a tournament scholarship, following in the footsteps of Sam Brennan and Marcus Beesley. The Grade 12 student has five years to apply the $1,500 award to any post-secondary institution. He'll pick up the award on New Year's Day during the gold-medal game.

On the ice, Chase Dubois and Jesse Roach scored for the Cougars. Both goals came in a wild first period as the Rockets took a 4-2 into the first intermission. The Rockets added two more goals in the third. Lane Delfs made 28 save for the Cougars.

Cariboo will conclude the tournament Monday when they play the Calgary Flames.
