The Cougars, who lead the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League with a 23-4-1 record, battle the seventh-place South Island Royals (13-12-2) today (4:30 p.m.) and Sunday (9:45 a.m.).

The Cats go into the weekend series after they earned a split against the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs last weekend at Kin 1.

They have an 11-point cushion over the second-place Okanagan Rockets.

After 28 games, the Cougars have scored 143 goals and only surrendered 51.

Captain Austin Gray sits second in league scoring with 22 goals and 24 assists. Goaltenders Dorrin Luding and Griffen Outhouse are ranked first and second respectively in the league.

Luding is 11-1-1 with a sparkling 1.69 goals-against-average, while Outhouse is 11-3-0 and sports a 1.86 goals-against-average.
