The winning continues for the Cariboo Cougars.
Northern B.C's top midget team posted its 10th straight B.C. Major Midget Hockey League victory Saturday at Shawnigan Lake, edging the South Island Royals 2-1.
That came on the heels of a 2-1 win over the Royals Friday at Cowichan Lake.
All of the goals Saturday came in the third period. Reid Perepeluk and Jeremy Gervais (with the gamewinner) scored for the Cougars. Oliver Hahn replied for the Royals.
Aaron Jakubowski recorded the victory in the Cougar nets.
On Friday, Darian Long notched the winner with 4:11 left in the third period in his third full game since moving up to the major midget ranks from the Prince George Coast Inn of the North Tier 1 midget team. Chris Jandric had the other Cariboo goal. Brandon McClintick scored for South Island.
Jakubowski made 16 saves as the Cougars outshot the Royals 43-17.
The pair of victories moved the Cougars (21-6-3) into first-place tie with the Valley West Hawks, who have two games in hand.
