Cariboo Cats drop double-header

If the Cariboo Cougars had any doubts the Okanagan Rockets deserve their lofting standing in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League, they know now.

If the Cariboo Cougars had any doubts the Okanagan Rockets deserve their lofting standing in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League, they know now.

The Rockets came out as advertised, looking like giant-killers on their home ice in Kelowna on the weekend. They beat the Cougars 5-2 on Saturday and 6-4 Sunday morning, solidifying their grip on top spot in the 11-team league.

Linden Hora scored twice to lead the Rockets in Sunday's win. Bryan Allbee had two in a losing cause, with singles to Steven Jandric and Dallas Goodwin. Jeremy Matte was busy in the Cougars nets, making 38 saves.

With the loss, the Cougars' record fell to 8-9-1, well off the pace of the Rockets (15-2-1).

Branden Wagner had a two-goal game Saturday for Okanagan. Jesse Roach and Isaiah Berra were the Cougar goalscorers. Matte made 27 stops.

The Cougars will be on the road this weekend to play the Vancouver Northwest Giants.
