The Cariboo Cougars won just three of nine games in November but their record wasn't due to a lack of effort from Steven Jandric.

The 16-year-old forward put up impressive enough offensive numbers to be selected as player of the month in the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League.

Jandric, from Prince George, amassed 18 points in November. In eight of the games, he had at least one point. Along the way, he had seven multi-point outings, including three games in which he recorded three points.

Jandric had two goals and one assist in a 6-5 loss to the Kootenay Ice on Nov. 2 and repeated that performance in a 6-2 win against the North Island Silvertips on Nov. 16. In between, he had a one-goal, two-assist game in a 3-1 victory against the South Island Royals.

The five-foot-eight, 180-pound Jandric spent most of the month skating on a line with Jesse Roach and Isaiah Berra. Jandric leads the Cougars in scoring with 13 goals and 28 points in 22 games - numbers that have him in 10th place on the league scoring list.

The Cougars have home games this weekend but, because of the possibility of a strike by the city's unionized workers, a Saturday contest against the Greater Vancouver Canadians will be played in Fort St. James (5 p.m. start). On Sunday, the Cougars and Canadians will be on CN Centre ice starting at 10 a.m.
