Six points was the objective but the Northern Capitals had to settle for four during a weekend series against the Fraser Valley Rush.

In B.C. Hockey Female Midget AAA League games played Friday through Sunday in the Lower Mainland, the Capitals picked up a pair of wins but ended the trip with a loss to the Rush, the last-place team in the league. The Caps won 3-0 on Friday and 4-3 on Saturday but fell 3-1 on Sunday. The first two games were played in Langley and the last one was on the ice in Delta.

The Capitals - currently third out of six teams - now have a record of 11-11-2. The Rush improved to 3-18-6.

In Friday's shutout victory, the Northern Capitals scored once in each period, the goals by Jordan Shanks, Danielle Corrigan and Camryn Scully.

On Saturday, the Capitals led 4-2 after two periods and held on for the win. Mya Ziemer scored twice for the Caps - including the winner - while Shanks and Sarah Jarvis also found the back of the Fraser Valley net. Ashley Crowhurst and Taylor Rodin (2) responded for the Rush.

In Sunday's capper, Shanks had the only goal for the Capitals part way through the second period. The Rush scored once in each frame, thanks to Cassidy Wait, Michelle Guo and Lauren Van Martin.

Olivia Davis and Nicole Kay are the Capitals goaltenders.

The Northern Capitals continue their season at home this weekend against the Vancouver Island Seals. Games are Friday at Kin 2 (5 p.m.), Saturday at Kin 1 (12:30 p.m.) and Sunday at Kin 1 (8:15 a.m.). The Seals are in fifth place with a 4-12-8 record.
