The Cariboo Cougars ran the table for 13 straight wins in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League but that stretch of good fortune came to an end Sunday morning in Delta.

After starting the weekend Saturday with a 5-1 win over the Greater Vancouver Canadians, the Cougars came out on the losing end of 4-2 decision in the rematch Sunday in Delta.

The Cougars still lead the league with a 22-3-1 record, while the Canadians (12-12-2) moved back to the .500 mark with their win Sunday.

Gary Dhaliwal scored three goals for the Canadians, two of which came in the third period to break a 2-2 tie. Tyson Lin also scored for Vancouver on Sunday. Wesley Shipton and Colton Thomas were the Cougar goalscorers. Griffen Outhouse took the loss in the Cougar nets.

Thomas, a 16-year-old native of Williams Lake, scored two goals in Saturday's Cougar triumph, while Shipton, Darren Hards and Brendan Moore fired singles. Outhouse was the winning goalie.

The Cougars are home for the next few days but will be back on the bus Christmas Day to head to Calgary, where they open play in the Mac's Midget tournament on Dec. 26 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Cougars are pooled in the 20-team tournament with Lethbridge, Calgary Northstars, Battlefords Stars and Markham Warriors.
