Both of the boys 14-and-under Prince George Youth Volleyball Club squads finished in the top-six at the B.C. Volleyball championships last weekend in Abbotsford.
Kodiaks Red smashed to fifth place in Division 1 out of 16 teams, while
Kodiaks Hallie, coached by Hallie Drezet, finished in sixth spot in Division 2 out of 13 teams.
The Kodiaks Red squad, coached by Jay Guillet and Todd Kuc, earned fifth with a 5-1 overall record.
The team posted a 3-0 round-robin mark to finish first in its pool, with victories over Langley's Airborne (2-1), the Surrey Eagles (2-0) and VVA Central from Victoria (2-0).
The Red squad lost a close quarter-final match to Richmond's Air Attack Gold in three sets, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12.
Kodiaks Red regrouped to beat OVC Phoenix from Abbotsford 2-0 (25-7, 25-22) and the Kelowna Krew 2-1 (25-20, 21-25, 15-8) to finish in fifth place.
White Rock's Seaside Surf beat Surrey's Focus Elite 2-1 to win gold. Airborne won bronze.
Kodiaks Hallie posted a 2-1 round-robin record to finish second in their pool. Their only loss came against Air Attack White 13's in three sets.
In the quarter-finals, they lost 2-1 in a close match to the Air Attack Black 13's (25-22, 19-25, 9-15). They then lost to White Rock's Seaside Surf 13's 2-0 to finish in sixth place.
Surrey's Focus Stealth won gold with a 2-0 victory against the Air Attack Black 13's. The Sub Zero Blizzard won bronze.
The 14U girls finished 12th out of 16 teams in Division 3. They finished third in their round-robin pool with a 1-2 record. They defeated the Yukon's Sub Zero Ice 2-1 and then lost to Vancouver's Apex Titans 2-0.
