Six skaters from the Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club drifted home with medals from the 2012 B.C. Winter Games in Vernon from Feb. 23 to 26.
Carolina Hiller took gold in the 1,500-metre distance, silver in the team relay and bronze in the 200-metre distance while placing fifth overall. Nicholas Hiller won silver in the 1,500-metre distance, team relay and 400-metre distance and was third overall, while Lucas Hiller skated to silver in the team relay, 400- 1,500- and 3,000-metre distances and bronze in the 200-metres. He was second overall.
Other Blizzard skaters returning with medals were: Anneke Pederson - 400-metre (gold), 200-metre (silver), 3,000-metre (bronze) and was third overall; Callie Swan - 200- 1,500- and 3,000-metre distances (gold), 400-metre and team relay (silver) and first overall; and Kadeja White - 200-metre, team relay (silver) and fourth overall. The only other Blizzard skater, Rylan Gaudet, to qualify for the games finished 11th overall.
