Fresh off her silver medal haul from the long track oval at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, Carolina Hiller was still in fine form at the Canada Cup No. 4 and Oval Finale Meet at the Olympic Oval in Calgary on the weekend.

The 17-year-old athlete from the Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club placed in the top half of all her races, including a sixth-place finish in the long distance mass start, her best performance of the meet.

Fort St. James skater Jamie Macdonald took top honours in the race. Hiller was 23rd overall in the 3,000-metres, while her Blizzard teammate Samara Thew finished 32nd overall.

The trio was among 80 women competing over four days of competition, which featured skaters from around the globe and several national team members.

Over the course of the meet, the women raced two 500m distances, two 1,000m, a 1,500m, a 3,000m and a long distance mass start.

Lucas Hiller and his younger brother Nicolas were among a field of 120 men who raced in Calgary. Although the siblings skated well against the national and international field, they were in tough from the beginning.

Nicolas Hiller skated to 32nd place in the 5,000m, clocking seven minutes, 8.12 seconds and a 56th-place finish in the 1,000m (1:15.04).

Lucas Hiller's best showing was a 79th in the 500m, with a time of 38.99.

The meet marked the end of the busy and successful long track season for the Blizzard as they medalled at national and international competitions.
