The beacon at the other end of the rink attached to Norm Carne's curling broom was all Shane McCreery needed to bring into focus his reason for being on the ice in Moose Jaw.
Carne's flashlight and a few close-up binocular-assisted views were radar to McCreery's eyes and it helped the Prince George rink roll to a 6-1 record that gave them their second Western Canadian blind curling championship in three years.
"Our skip (McCreery) had to pull us out of the fire against Saskatchewan," said designated sweeper Terry Pipkey. "We were down two heading into the eighth (and final end) and we scored three to win 8-7. If we had lost that game we would have been out of contention."
