Prince George's Sarah Beaudry was the top Canadian in a women's sprint race at the world youth biathlon championships in Austria on Friday.

Beaudry, a member of the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club, placed 36th in a six-kilometre race with a time of 21 minutes 32.9 seconds. Emily Dickson, also a Prince George resident, finished 75th in a time of 24:14.4.

Russia's Uliana Kaisheva claimed gold with a clocking of 18:08.7.

Meanwhile, in a men's 7.5km sprint, P.G.'s Arthur Roots ended up 59th. Roots stopped the clock in 24.19.7. Race-winner Fabien Claude of France posted a time of 21:12.4.

Biathlon combines cross-country skiing and target shooting.

Beaudry, Dickson and Roots qualified for worlds during national team selection races in Canmore earlier this month.

This is Beaudry's third consecutive appearance at the world championships. She and Roots have been living and training in Canmore.
