Beaudry hits gold again

Beaudry won gold in the junior women 10-kilometre mass start at the national event in Charlo, N.B. The 19-year-old from Prince George's Caledonia Nordic Ski Club only missed three shots (one prone, two standing) out of a total 20 targets en route to first place.

Her time of 37:26 was 1:29.7 minutes faster than her B.C. teammate Julia Ransom from Kelowna who won silver.

Erin Yungblut from Ontario claimed the bronze medal, finishing 2:47 behind Beaudry.

Beaudry also won gold in Friday's 10 km pursuit race, missing only one shot, clocking a time of 39:32 and was the sprint winner on Wednesday.

Emily Dickson of Prince George, 16, also continued her assault on the medal podium, winning the senior girls 7.5 km individual race in 41:57.3 with seven misses on the range. Megan Bankes of Alberta was second in 42:18 just ahead of bronze medalist Bryn Robertson of Alberta (42:31). Claire Lapointe of Prince George clocked 46:32 with eight missed shots on her way to a seventh-place finish.

Dickson began her second national championship winning silver in the sprint and gold in the pursuit.

In the junior men's 12.5 km mass start race, Arthur Roots was seventh in 46:49, 5:46 off the winning time of 41:02 set by Christian Gow of Canmore. Roots missed six of 20 shots.

Caledonia Nordic Ski Club member Matt Neumann of Canmore finished seventh in Sunday's men 21 and over 10 km mass start, clocking a time of 50:57, 4:41 behind winner J.P. Le Guellec from Quebec. Neumann missed on 11 of his 20 shots on the range. Le Guellec crossed the line first in 46:15, missing only nine shots out of 20.

Caledonia biathlete Bobby Kreitz was 22nd in the senior boys individual race with 11 misses and a tie of 46:03, 111:36 behind winner Teo Sanchez of Quebec.

Neumann helped his B.C. 1 team to a bronze medal in Saturday's mixed 3 x 6-km relay.

The B.C. team of Neumann, Kelowna's Jasper Mackenzie and Ransom finished 4:45 behind the top Quebec team who won gold. Quebec's second team took the silver.

In the relay, each skier takes aim at two rounds of five targets, one each from the standing and prone position.

Neumann, who skied the lead leg, missed three of his shots from the standing position as the team successfully made 27 of its 30 targets. The gold-medal team from Quebec only missed two targets and the silver medal team shot six clean rounds.

Beaudry and her B.C. No. 1 team finished fifth in Saturday's junior men/women 3 X 6 relay, clocking a time of 1:09:31. Beaudry missed two of her targets in the prone position as the team, which included Roots and Emile Vogel-Nakamura finished 1:55 behind Alberta No. 1.
