The Prince George Spruce Kings are going to have to keep playing the waiting game.
They won’t be playing any B.C. Hockey League games and will have hold off on team scrimmages now that the provincial health office has extended its restrictions on team activities, as announced on Friday.
The league had planned on playing games next week but the ban on team travel, mass gatherings and events remains in effect and now the BCHL is targeting March for its season start.
“We are disappointed that we are once again forced to delay the 2020-21 regular season, but we support the PHO in their efforts to protect the health and safety of British Columbians,” said BCHL commissioner Chris Hebb, in a league release. “We continue to work closely with the PHO on how we can safely resume play. This includes potential pods in select BCHL cities throughout the province.”
BCHL teams will be restricted to individual on-ice skill sessions and drills as outlined in the province’s Phase 2 protocols until the restrictions are lifted.
