B.C. on a roll at wheelchair curling nationals

The B.C. rink features third Frank LaBounty of Prince George and lead Alison Duddy of Quesnel. The skip is Darryl Neighbour and the second is Vince Miele, both from Richmond.

B.C. defeated Saskatchewan 8-3 in Tuesday afternoon's draw after putting five points on the board in the third end. It scored singles in the first, fifth and seventh ends. Saskatchewan countered with singles in the second, fourth and sixth ends.

Tuesday morning, the B.C. crew rocked New Brunswick with a 9-5 win. Holding hammer, Neighbour scored deuces in the first, second and fourth ends. Trailing 7-1, New Brunswick counted four in the sixth end to make it close, but B.C. scored another deuce in the seventh. The teams shook hands in the eighth to end the game.

B.C. opened the 10-team national bonspiel on Monday with a 9-6 victory against Manitoba.

Neighbour held a 7-6 lead after Manitoba scored three in the sixth end. B.C. responded with a deuce in the seventh. The rinks shook hands in the eighth.

B.C., which won the silver medal at the 2013 championship, is tied with Ontario for first place with 3-0 records. Defending champion Quebec is tied with Nova Scotia and Northern Ontario at 2-1.

Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba are next with 1-2 records, while New Brunswick and Newfoundland & Labrador are still searching for their first wins and sit at 0-3.

B.C. takes on Alberta this morning in Draw 4 and Newfoundland & Labrador in Draw 5 this afternoon.

Thursday, B.C. battles Nova Scotia and Quebec and wraps up the round-robin Friday with games against Ontario and Northern Ontario.

The top-four advance to the Page playoffs in a 1 versus 2 and 3 versus 4 format Saturday afternoon.

The semifinal is Sunday morning prior to the championship final Sunday afternoon.
