B.C. Hockey drops MML's limit on 17-year-olds

B.C. Hockey has removed the rule that, for two seasons, limited the number of 17-year-olds Major Midget League teams were allowed to have on their rosters. In the 15- to 17-year-old MML, clubs were permitted to carry no more than five 17-year-olds.

B.C. Hockey has removed the rule that, for two seasons, limited the number of 17-year-olds Major Midget League teams were allowed to have on their rosters.

In the 15- to 17-year-old MML, clubs were permitted to carry no more than five 17-year-olds. The decision to eliminate the cap was made during the Under-17 B.C. Cup, held in 100 Mile House on the weekend.

"It's unlimited now, so it's back to the way it originally was," said Trevor Sprague, head coach of the MML's Cariboo Cougars. "I think it came down to common sense. The coaches were unanimous two years in a row. Everybody wanted it out and it's great that the executive committee from B.C. Hockey listened to us."
