Some of the best boxers in the province are in our midst.
A special Team B.C. training camp is taking place at the Spruce Capital Boxing Club facility -- the first session ran on Tuesday, the second will go on Thursday. The plan is to help familiarize boxers with the computerized scoring system, and to pass along sparring techniques that will allow the athletes to post higher scores.
This is the northern segment of the camp, with the southern session slated for Jan. 22 at the Fraser Arms gymnasium in Vancouver.
The year 2010 will be a busy time for local boxers, with the Emerald Gloves slated to take place at the Northern Sport Centre, March 13-14. As well, Kenny Lally and Jag Seehra are headed to the Silver Gloves this weekend, scheduled for matches on Saturday and to face each other on Sunday in an exhibition, part of their preparation for nationals.
