A list of the 100 most influential Canadians in baseball has been published and it includes two people with ties to Prince George. Two more individuals who call P.G. their hometown received honourable mentions.

The list was compiled by columnist Bob Elliott, a Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame member who has covered the Toronto Blue Jays and Montreal Expos during his award-winning career. Released on Jan. 1, the list includes former P.G. residents Ray Carter and Stephen Brooks, who came in at No. 40 and 41 respectively. Carter, who now lives in Tsawwassen, is in his 13th year as president of Baseball Canada while Brooks is the chief financial officer of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Meanwhile, honourable mentions went out to Jim Swanson, chairman of the World Baseball Challenge, and Cavanagh Whitely, who coaches at Douglas College in New Westminster.

Blue Jays president Paul Beeston topped the list and was followed by Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos. Other notables included Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto (No. 10), former MLB all-star Larry Walker (No. 11) and legendary pitcher Ferguson Jenkins (No. 14).
