It's a long road to Kamloops and the trip south proved worthwhile last weekend for the Prince George Barracudas Swim Club.

Forty Barracudas competed in the Kamloops Ice Classic Invitational long-course meet and they left a big impression, finishing second out of 19 teams.

Coached by Jerzy Partyka and Jason Smith, Barracudas swimmers achieved 195 best times, won 36 gold medals, 14 silver and 15 bronze, and established 22 new club records.

Competition at the meet pushed three Prince George swimmers to age group national qualifying standards.
