Barracudas earn two medals in Montreal

He stop atop the podium in the boys (15-17) 200m fly, setting a new club record in the process with a time of two minutes, 5.65 seconds (2:05.65).

In addition to the gold medal, Yungman also placed fourth in the 100m fly (58.12) and just missed a spot in the final of the 100m freestyle, placing ninth (54.46). He also competed in the 200m freestyle and individual medley (IM) and the 50m fly.

Hannah Esopenko earned a bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke (2:43.31). Esopenko had a fourth place finish in the 50m breaststroke (35.14) and a seventh place finish in the 100m breaststroke (1:16.86). She also had 19th and 22nd place finishes in the 200m IM and the 200m fly.

Patricia Fortier was fifth in the 400m IM (5:07.94), ninth in the 100m backstroke (1:06.60) and 10th in the 200m IM (2:26.91). Fortier also placed seventh in the 200m backstroke (2:22.68), 19th in the 50m backstroke and was 21st in the 200m breaststroke and 800m freestyle.

Julie Wing also took fifth in the 200m backstroke (2:25.26) and was 11th in the 100m backstroke (1:09.25). She also competed in the 50m backstroke (24th) and the 200m and 400m IMs where she placed 26th.

Jessa Wing took part in five events with her best finish coming in the 1500m freestyle (18:33.71) where she placed 18th. She also competed in the 200m backstroke (40th) and the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle.

The club finished 52nd overall.

Next for Fortier, along with her Barracudas teammates Haley Black, Danica Ludlow and Sterling King will be swimming for B.C. at the 2013 Canada Summer Games, starting Friday in Sherbrooke, Que.
