Barracudas breaking records in Montreal pool

Haley Black is in record form at the age group national swimming championships in Montreal.

Black, a 14-year-old Prince George Barracudas Swim Club member, won gold and established a new standard of 2:18.32 in the 200m butterfly, breaking her own record of 2:28.82.

Her clubmate, Danica Ludlow, 14, captured bronze in the 50 free (27:32) and was sixth in the 800 free (9:28.61).

Sterling King, 15, set two club records at the meet while finishing fourth in the 800-metre freestyle in 8:47.66. He also broke the club mark in the 200m butterfly with a time of 2:10.44.

Katie Mann, 18, set a 'Cudas record while placing 18th in the 100m breaststroke (1:15.77).

Other Barracudas results were as follows: Josiah Binnema,13, 34th in 200 fly (2:37.52); Sava Yungman, 14, sixth in 200 fly (2:16.27), 23rd in 50 free (27.04); Bailey Hardy, 14, 13th in 100 breast (1:18.60).

After three days of competition the Barracudas rank 18th out of 116 clubs and fifth among B.C. clubs at the event, which wraps up Sunday.
