The Prince George Barracudas Swim Club sent five members to the 2013 Canadian World Championship Trials in Victoria, April 4-7, for a long-course meet. Several Barracuda club records were shattered during the meet and personal bests were set. The Barracudas placed 45 out of 109 teams.
Harrison Lagzdin broke his own club record in the 200m backstroke in the boys 15-17 age category, finishing 25th in two minutes, 09.99 seconds (2:09.99). His old record was 2:12.19 set in July 2012. Lagzdin also had a personal best swim in the 100m backstroke, placing 41st (1:01.42).
Results for the other Barracudas swimmers in Victoria were - Sterling King, 200m freestyle, 44th (1:56.75); 800m freestyle, 10th (8:33.04); 400m freestyle, 34th (4:07.37); 1500m freestyle, 43rd (16:55.08); and 40m0 individual medley (IM), 37th (4:45.85). Haley Black, 50m butterfly, 30th (29.12); 100m backstroke, 38th (1:05.73); 200m butterfly, third in 'B' final (2:16.51); 400m IM, 25th (5:06.85); 50m backstroke, 36th (31.09); 100m butterfly, 17th (1:02.25); 200m backstroke, 25th (2:20.08); and 200m IM, 35th (2:26.62). Patricia Fortier, 100m backstroke, 56th (1:08.22); 400m IM, 28th (5:08.08); and 200m backstroke, 28th (2:21.05). Fortier's times in the 400m IM and 200m backstroke were both personal bests. Danica Ludlow, 200m freestyle, 40th (2:06.18); 100m backstroke, 53rd (1:07.24); 800m freestyle, ninth (17:33.56); 400m freestyle, 22nd (4:25.59); 200m backstroke, 36th (2:22.38); and 800m freestyle, 20th (9:11.58).
