Barracudas Bennett and Brown faster than ever at Western Canadian long course swimming championships

For Prince George Barracudas Swim Club racers Isaac Bennett and Tommy Brown, their trip to Edmonton last weekend simply brought out the best in them

They each nailed several personal best times competing in the Western Canadian long course (50-metre pool) championships.

Bennett, 14, finished the 400m individual medley in five minutes 13.45 seconds, a best time, while finishing 38th. He also swam his fastest 200 backstroke (2:23.84), finishing 38th overall in the event. Bennett also competed in the 100m backstroke and placed 36th with a time of 1:05.98.

Brown, 16, made the A final in the 200 freestyle and placed 10th overall, clocking a PB 2:01.18. He also made the A final in the 200 butterfly and placed ninth (2:14.61). In the 400 freestyle, Brown finished second in the B final in 4:18.70. He was 23th in the 400 IM (5:01.85) and ended up 30th in 200 IM (2:22.63). All of Brown’s times were personal bests.

Bennett, Brown and the Barracudas will host dozens of swimmers from several clubs this weekend at the club’s Dental Moose Meet, which starts Friday at the Prince George Aquatic Centre. The met runs through Sunday.
