Chloe Vertue had a memorable weekend in the water.

Vertue, a member of the Prince George Barracudas swim club, competed at the Swim B.C. short course double-A championships in Chilliwack and won a silver medal in the 200-metre backstroke (time of two minutes 46.24 seconds). Just as importantly, Vertue was also swift enough in four events - including the 200 backstroke - to qualify for the higher-level triple-A provincials, March 2-5 in Victoria. At the triple-A meet, her other events will be the 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly. In total, 13 Barracudas athletes will swim in Victoria.

Jenna Stevens, another Prince George club member, also swam to a medal at the double-A provincials. She placed third in the 200m backstroke with a clocking of 2:26.17.
