The upper echelon of the female team standings is where the Prince George Barracudas Swim Club placed at the Summer National swimming championships in Point Claire, Que.
Strong finishes by Danica Ludlow, Haley Black and Patricia Fortier, all of whom made it to the top-16 round, marked the last day of competition on the weekend.
Ludlow established a new 15-17 girls Barracudas club mark in the 1,500-metre freestyle , finishing fifth overall in 17 minutes 22.19 seconds. She also was seventh in the 400m freestyle, eighth in the 800m freestyle and 16th in the 200m backstroke.
Black was fifth in the 200m butterfly ( a 15-17-year-old girls club record time of 2:15.47), 11th in the 100m butterfly and 15th in the 50m backstroke. She also placed 34th in the 200 IM.
Fortier's meet ended with a 13th-place result in the 200m backstroke, a club-record time of 2:18.84 .
Overall, the Barracudas finished 31st.
Black, Ludlow and Fortier will remain this week in Montreal along with Barracudas Sterling King and Sava Yungman and head coach Jerzy Partyka.
On Sunday, Barracudas swimmers Hannah Esopenko, Jessa Wing and Julie Wing are due to arrive from Prince George to join the team for the age group national championships.
