The Farr Fabricating Cougars manufactured bronze at the Burnaby International.
The Cougars, a bantam Tier 1 rep team from the Prince George Minor Hockey Association, finished the 17-team tournament with a 5-3 record, including a 4-3 win against Coquitlam in the game for the medal. The victory was a form of retribution for the Cougars, who had fallen 5-4 to that same team at the start of the tournament.
In their other games, the Cougars beat Richmond 4-2, lost 8-2 to Arizona, downed Cowichan Valley 7-5, edged North Delta 4-3, beat Burnaby 6-3 in the playoff quarterfinals and lost 10-2 to Langley in the semifinal round.
Darren Hards of the Cougars was selected to the tournament's second all-star team. With 11 goals and 24 points in eight games, he held one of the hottest sticks in the event. Meanwhile, goaltender Jacob Sweet won all of his starts. Overall, he went 4-0 between the pipes.
