The Prince George Farr Fabricating bantam tier 1 Cougars skated to a sixth-place finish at the Kelowna Rockets bantam tier 1 tournament on the weekend.
The Cougars opened with a 5-4 loss to Cloverdale on Friday with all nine goals scored in the first two periods. In the first, Cloverdale skated out to a 2-0 lead until a Cougars goal by Corey Cunningham, with an assist from Colton Kitchen, narrowed the lead. After Cloverdale scored again, Cunningham and Elijah Goyer set up Brandon Dent for Prince George's second goal.
Cloverdale took a 4-2 lead into the second period but the Cougars knotted it up a 4-4 on tallies from Dekklen McEachern and Cunningham. Cody Bailey, Jaxon Danilec and Brandon Dent chipped in with assists.
Cloverdale scored its fifth goal before the end of the second and neither team scored in the third.
Prince George suffered a 5-2 loss to Kamloops Saturday.
Cunningham scored a goal and added an assist, and Dent also tallied for the Cougars. Danilec, Matthew Marotta and Jacob Danilec added assists.
Prince George edged the Vancouver Thunder Birds 4-3 Saturday afternoon.
jaxon Danilec netted a hat trick, while Dent added another in the victory.
Netminder Trenton Griffith made 48 saves in the win.
Prince George wrapped up the tournament with a 5-3 loss to Hollyburn.
