The bantam Tier 2 Cougars, after almost a month away from game action, were in Williams Lake for a pair of weekend contests. On Saturday, after a sluggish start, they beat their hosts 7-3. The next day, Prince George prevailed 6-2.

In the opener, Lucas Ens scored twice for the Cats. Other goals came from Derek Bulmer, Donovan Law, Nick Headrick, Thane Anderson and Logan Styler. The Cougars outshot the T-wolves 51-23. Mitchell Profeit was the winning goaltender.

On Sunday, Ens continued his fine play and struck for two more goals. Ryan Hurrie, Colton Poulin, Styler and Blair Scott also scored for the Cats.

Hurrie's goal, on the power play, was his first of the season. The game was also a memorable one for Tre Potskin, who recorded his first points of the season, and for goaltender Lindsay Loring, who picked up his first victory. Potskin and Loring joined the Cougars at the Jan. 10 carding deadline. The Cougars outshot the Timberwolves 42-24.

The games were the final regular-season meetings between the two Cariboo Amateur Hockey Association clubs. Prince George went 8-1 against Williams Lake and now sits at 17-12-6-1 overall.

The Cougars will now start preparing for their own tournament, Jan. 29-31 at the Kin Centre. Teams in attendance will be Pursuit of Excellence (Kelowna), Williams Lake, Quesnel, Grande Prairie, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Kitimat.
