Sunday in Ottawa, Prince George's Emma Balazs won a silver medal at the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships. Her 1,500-metre steeplechase was held during a huge downpour, but the soggy conditions didn't slow her down much. The 15-year-old member of the Prince George Track and Field Club needed slightly more than five minutes (5:01.99) to finish the race, and only B.C. teammate Tanya Humeniuk -- with a clocking of 4:53.60 -- was faster.
