Emma Balazs added two more medals to her collection at the 2012 Legion Canadian Youth Championship in Charlottetown, Aug. 17-19.
The Kelly Road secondary student won gold in her signature event - the under-18 girls 2,000-metre steeplechase Saturday with a time of six minutes, 57.65 seconds (6:57.65), earning 10 points for Team B.C. Balazs edged out B.C. teammate Regan Yee (6:58.52) who added eight points to the team's total. The bronze medal went to Katie Robinson of New Brunswick with a time of 7:26.41.
The 17 year old began the track and field championship Friday with a bronze-medal finish in the under-18 girls 1,500m middle distance race, finishing in 4:38.30. Team B.C. teammate Kala Stone took gold in a time of 4:35.77 while Ontario's Rebecca Wendt (4:37.14) earned the silver.
