Axemen to play for gold

The Prince George Westcana Electric Axemen will play for gold at Citizen Field against the defending champion Windsor Stars in the RE/MAX Centre City Baseball Canada Senior championship. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Prince George Westcana Electric Axemen will play for gold at Citizen Field against the defending champion Windsor Stars in the RE/MAX Centre City Baseball Canada Senior championship.

Game time is 7 p.m.

The Stars secured their place in the final with a 14-3 win over the Chatham Ironmen of New Brunswick while the Axemen earned their ticket with a 4-2 victory over the Fort Saskatchewan Athletics of Alberta.

The Ironmen and Athletics will play for bronze at 4 p.m.

The last host team to win the championship was Quebec in 2007. The B.C. Selects won bronze that year with current Axemen Sean Hotzak, David Laing and, 2012 coach, Jim Swanson.
