The Alison's Embroidery Gators thumped Williams Lake 7-1 in Sunday's final to win the Attitude on Ice female hockey tournament in 100 Mile House.
After skating to a 1-1 tie in the first period, the Gators, an atom house 2 female development team, broke the game open in the second period on a pair of goals from Jorden Maloney and singles by Brooke Norkus and Brooklyn Hutchings.
In the third, Hutchings tallied her fifth of the tourney, while Norkus added her eighth goal to secure the win.
Netminders Tessa Sturgeon and Victoria Schinkel, who split each game of the four-team tournament, were solid in net.
"From the goaltenders, to the defence and forwards, the effort was exceptional with constant pressure on the opponents that allowed the girls to skate to a 4-0 record, scoring 25 goals and only giving up three," said Gators head coach Doug Sturgeon.
Prior to Sunday's final, the Gators edged the same Williams Lake team 3-2 Saturday night.
Hutchings scored the winner with just 10 seconds left in regulation time to break a 2-2 tie. Norkus scored Prince George's first goal to open the scoring in the first period, but Williams Lake replied with a tally in the middle frame. After Norkus scored her second of the game, Williams Lake scored the equalizer in the third period.
The Gators shut out Langley 9-0 Friday and host 100 Mile House 7-0 Saturday morning.
Other members of the team are: Lani Loth, Stashia Telford, Sasha Schurack, Avery Leslie, Kelsey Dent, Kaitlin Middleton, Stacia LeClerc, Cricket Colebank, Avery Sieben, Jayden Kraska, Tashyla Teschuk, Brooklyn Hill, and Taylor Malgunas.
