With one swing of the bat, Amanda Asay undid all the good work the Shooters Gladiators had done earlier in the game.
Asay's walkoff double in the seventh inning capped a remarkable five-run comeback for the Queensway Auto World Red Sox in Prince George Senior Baseball League action Friday at Citizen Field.
The Gladiators jumped out to a 7-3 lead after three innings and chased starting pitcher Marcel Belanger in the fourth inning, who handed the ball to Curtis Sawchuk. The Red Sox responded with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to make it 7-5 and Bucky Schmidt led off the bottom of the seventh with a base hit. Gladiators pitcher Calvin Todd walked Evan Potskin and Schmidt advanced to third on a hit from Nick Gantner to load the bases. Joe Flavel singled in one run, setting up a dramatic finish for Asay.
The Red Sox will be back on the field tonight at 6:30 against the Inland Control & Services Tigers,a game that was rescheduled after it was rained out earlier this season.
